Organise animals into groups and locations for easier management

Learn how to add and create groups and locations via the mobile and web app

You can sort your animals into groups and locations.  This allows for easier tracking and reporting of performance of animals throughout Breedr. An animal can only be in one group and one location, at any given time.

 

Groups:

• Create a group on the mobile app 
• Add animals to the group on the mobile app 
• Create a group and add animals to the group on the web app

Locations:

• Create a location on the mobile app
• Add animals to the location on the mobile app
• Create a location and add animals to the location on the web app

 

How to create a Group

In the mobile app:

1. Go to 'My Cattle'
2. Head to 'Groups'
3. 'Create' to create a new group
4. You have 2 options: 
   1. 'Herd of Animals' to create a group of animals with no ids in Breedr. You are prompted to enter the number of animals, sex and breed before Saving. This is primarily used for sheep farmers.
   2. Select 'Group of Individuals' to create a group of animals, which already have IDs in Breedr. Step 5 follows on from selecting 'Group of Individuals'
5. Enter Group name, Target weight (kg) and other details you require > 'Save' and/or 'Save and create another' [group]
6. See your newly created group in your Groups list

Now you can add animals into the Group on your mobile app:

7.  Tap into your group > 'Add animals' to assign animals to this group

8.  'Add animals'

9.  Either search in the top field circled or tick the tickboxes to the right of each individual animal. Selected animals have a green tick circles as above. 'Done'

10.  Once you have selected your animals > 'Submit'

11.  Review animals. From here you can then click 'Manage' to log activities to the whole/individuals within that group

How to create a Location

In the mobile app:

1. Go to 'My Cattle'
2. Head to 'Locations'
3. Select 'Create' to create a new location
4. Enter all location details
   Note: if you need to add another location address into your account, head to 'Menu' > Settings > Farm addresses > yellow '+' button > enter details along with the cph number > Save. This will then be an option for you to select in the dropdown list. 
5. 'Save and finish'
6. See your new location in your list

Now you can add animals into the Location on your mobile app:

7.   Tap into your Location and you will see instructions how to add animals

8a. Add in animals from your 'My Cattle' tab: 'Manage' > select all/individuals > Manage

8b. Add in animals from your 'Groups' tab: select group > 'Manage' > select all/individuals > Manage

9.  Use the dropdown arrow to select your location, select date of movement into location > Submit

10. Your animal/s have successfully moved into the location, indicated by a green banner up above

 

Locations in the web app:

 

If you want to mark animals across various groups and/or locations, you can use management Tags.
