Log a death in Breedr

You can log a death against an animal on both the mobile and web app. If your account is synced to BCMS/ScotEID you can also approve and send this registration direct from Breedr

To log a live death through Breedr is a simple two step process from the mobile or web app:

  1. Record a death on your mobile or web app
  2. Go to your Regulatory dashboard  to either 'Approve and send' to register the death with BCMS; 'Abort (do not send)' registration or 'Reject' (undo/revert) death record.

Make sure Registrations are switched on within your account settings before you record a death, if you want to register the death direct with BCMS through Breedr in the Regulatory Dashboard.

To log a death in the mobile app:

log death-1
  1. Head to your 'My Cattle' and select '+ Manage' to select multiple animals or tap directly into an animal that's died
  2. If you select an individual animal, you'll get to this screen > select 'Manage'
  3. 'Mark as dead'log death (2)
  4. Enter in the Date; cause of death and optionally the disposal destination (choose from your address book or manually enter) and/or the cost of disposal > 'Mark as Dead'
  5. A green banner will display at the top of your page, indicating a successful logging of the death

Second step - head to your Regulatory Dashboard on the web app:dashboard-1

Click on the number in the 'Ready to Approve' column to bring up animal/s that you have just recorded the death of. Animal/s show up in the table below where you need to select the animal/s in order to register their death. Selected animal/s have a green tickbox to the left of them, as above.

  • You can tap the top left box of the table if you want to bulk select the list, or,
  • Individually select an animal/s, by individually ticking boxes to the left of each animal

 Then select:

  • 'Approve and send' to notify BCMS/ScotEID of the movements/registrations

Alternatively, select:

  • 'Abort (do not send)' if you have already reported directly to BCMS/ScotEID outside of Breedr and/or do not use Breedr for your BCMS death registrations
  • 'Reject' if you'd like to revert/undo the activity

To record a death on the web app:

Watch the video below to follow through how you record a death on the web app and then go to the Regulatory Dashboard to send the death to BCMS/ScotEID

If you've recorded anything incorrectly at all, please get in touch with support before sending off the details to BCMS/ScotEID, so we can help you rectify animal details.
