Scan your sheep EIDs and import to Breedr
Scan your sheep and retrieve the EID list from your Data Link app in order to upload into your Breedr account
This guide will show you how to:
- Set up and scan your sheep Electronic IDs (EIDs) using an XRS2.
- Connect your stick reader to the Data Link app.
- Download your session from the Data Link app.
Set up your EID stick reader to scan sheep:
Choose your scanning mode:

Select your scanning mode on your EID stick reader:

Press the power button to turn the reader on.

Tap 'Menu' (middle button on the left side).

Use the arrow keys to scroll to 'Settings', then press 'OK'.

Select 'Tag Reading' (or may be labeled as 'Scan Settings' depending on firmware).

Choose 'Read Mode':
- Highlight your desired mode and press 'OK' to select it.

'Auto' (scan when button is pressed)

'Continuous' (scan constantly)

- Highlight your desired mode and press 'OK' to select it.

Exit the menu by pressing the back button or holding the power button.
Connect your stick reader to the Data Link app:

Press the power button on your XRS2.

Go to 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'Connectivity' > 'Bluetooth' and set 'Bluetooth' and 'Discoverable' to 'On' to enable Bluetooth on you XRS2.

Open the Tru-Test Data Link app on your mobile. Make sure your device's Bluetooth is enabled.

Pair your device my selecting 'Devices' or 'Connect Reader' in the Data Link app. Look for your stick reader name in the list and tap it to connect. - Your stick reader screen will show a Bluetooth icon when connected. The app will display the device as 'Connected'.
Download your session from the Data Link app to import to Breedr:
- Following from above, tap 'Sessions' or 'Data' from the menu.
- Following on from above, tap Sessions or Data from the menu, dependign on firmware.
- Select the session and click 'Share' to download and send it to yourself either via email or on a cloud-based portal where you can access the file on your computer.
- Head to the Breedr web app and use our article on adding sheep to your account to add your sheep into Breedr.
