Scan your Sheep EIDs and import to Breedr

Scan your sheep and retrieve the EID list off your data link app in order to upload into your Breedr account

This guide will show you how to:

 

Set up your EID stick reader to scan sheep

Choose your scanning mode:

Select your scanning mode on your EID stick reader:

  1. Press the power button to turn the reader on

  2. Tap 'Menu' (middle button on the left side).

  3. Use the arrow keys to scroll to Settings, then press OK.

  4. Select Tag Reading (or may be labeled as “Scan Settings” depending on firmware)

  5. Choose Read Mode:

      • Auto (scan when button is pressed)

      • Continuous (scan constantly)

    • Highlight your desired mode and press OK to select it

  6. Exit the Menu by pressing the back button or holding the power button

 

Connect your stick reader to the Data Link app

1. Turn On Your XRS2

  • Press the power button

2. Enable Bluetooth on the XRS2

  • Go to: Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth

    • Set Bluetooth to On

    • Set Discoverable to On

3. Open the Data Link App on Your Mobile Device

  • Make sure your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled

  • Launch the Tru-Test Data Link app

4. Pair Your Device

  • In the Data Link app:

    • Tap Devices or Connect Reader

    • Look for your XRS2 reader name in the list (e.g., “XRS2-123456”)

    • Tap it to connect.

5. Confirm Connection

  • Your XRS2 screen will show a Bluetooth icon when connected

  • The app will display the device as Connected

 

 

Download your session from the Data Link app to use to import to Breedr

  1. Following on from above, tap Sessions or Data from the menu (label may vary by version)
  2. Find the specific session and select it. 'Share' (top right) to download and send it to yourself either via email or on a cloud-based portal (e.g. google photos) where you can access the file on your computer. 
  3. Head to the Breedr web app and go to 'Adding sheep to your account' article to add these sheep from the session onto your account
