To request a change to any field, use the chat window, call (737) 412-3131, or email supportusa@breedr.co. Have the animal's Visual ID or EID ready when you get in touch.
Scanning a new EID onto a re-tagged animal:
If an animal has been re-tagged and you need to update its EID, connect a compatible EID reader before opening the edit screen. When you tap the EID field, scan the new tag, the number populates automatically without typing.
See Issues Connecting Your Breedr App to Your Equipment? if your reader isn't connecting.
Method 2: Edit multiple animals via file upload on the browser portal
Use the Edit Animals importer when you need to update a field across multiple animals at once, for example, correcting EIDs after an import, reassigning a batch to a new group, or fixing dates of birth on a set of records.
You'll need a computer for this. The file importer is only available on the browser portal at app.breedr.tech, it is not available on the app.
Step 1: Prepare your spreadsheet
Create a CSV file with one row per animal you want to update. Your file must include:
- At least one animal ID column (EID, VID, or Registered ID) so Breedr can match each row to the right record
- Only the columns you want to update, you don't need to include every field, only the ones being changed
Tip: Export your current animal list from My Cattle on the browser portal first, make your edits in that file, and re-upload. This avoids typos in ID fields and ensures the data matches your existing records exactly.
See Convert a Spreadsheet to CSV Format if you're working in Excel or Google Sheets and need to save as CSV.

Step 2: Go to the Edit Animals importer
- Log in at app.breedr.tech on your browser.
- Select "Import Data" from the left-hand navigation.
- Select "Custom Import."
- Select "Edit Animals" from the import type options.
Step 3: Upload your file
- Select your CSV file from your computer.
- Click "Next."
Step 4: Map your columns
- Click "Match Columns" — Breedr will automatically match column headings that use the standard names above.
- For any unmatched columns, use the dropdown to select the correct Breedr field.
- Confirm your animal ID column is mapped — this is how Breedr identifies which record to update.
Step 5: Finish the upload
- Click "Finish Upload."
- A green screen confirms the upload was successful.
- Open the affected animals in My Cattle to confirm the changes saved correctly.
If your upload has errors:
If any rows fail to update, click "Download un-imported animals" to save a CSV of the failed rows. Check the error column and fix the issues before re-uploading only the failed rows.
