Import from the American Angus Association 

Before You Start:

• Your registered Angus cattle must already be in Breedr before importing EPD data. The importer matches your AAA file to existing Breedr records using AAA registration numbers.
• If your animals are not yet in Breedr, add them first. See Add Animals via File Import.
• Confirm your animals have their AAA registration numbers recorded in Breedr. Animals without a matching registration number will not import.

Step 1: Download your EPD file from AAA

The AAA provides EPD and performance data through its online member portal and on-request from AAA staff.

Option A : Download from AAA Online (angusonline.org):

1. Log in at angusonline.org with your AAA member credentials.
2. Go to Reports and select an EPD report option for your herd.
3. Select your animals and choose Excel Spreadsheet as the output format.
4. Download the file. Do not open or re-save the file before importing it into Breedr.

Option B: Request directly from AAA

Contact AAA Operations to request a herd inventory file containing your registered animals' EPDs, registration data, and three-generation pedigrees:

Step 2: Import into Breedr

1. Go to Upload from the left-hand navigation.
2. Select "Partner Import."
3. Select "American Angus Association" 
4. Select your downloaded AAA file and click "Upload File"
5. Map the columns. Breedr will attempt to auto-match AAA column headings. Confirm the registration number column is mapped.
6. Click "Finish Upload."
7. A green screen confirms the import was successful.

Step 3: Verify the Data on an Animal Record

1. Open any registered animal in My Cattle.
2. Confirm EPD data appears on the record. AAA EPDs include birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight, milk, maternal milk, carcass traits, docility, and economic indexes ($W, $F, $G, $B).
3. If data is missing for an animal, confirm that animal's AAA registration number is recorded correctly in Breedr.
