How to get the most out of Breedr's activities and Breeding Reports

Genetic selection can be one of the most effective methods for enhancing herd health, fertility, and overall profitability. Opt for the Sire whose calves exhibit the best Daily Live Weight Gain (DLWG), and focus on choosing heifers born during the initial 6 weeks of the calving period who have shown excellent growth.

Having a greater number of calves born within the first 3 weeks will lead to a higher average weaning weight, ensuring that both cow and calf groups are synchronized at the same developmental stage, making herd management more streamlined.

Step-by-Step

  1. Upload any historical data you may have.

  2. Group breeding animals together and log when cows/heifers are in heat.

  3. Log the calf's weight using Chute Mode.

  4. Track your progress using the Breeding History Report

    Calving:

Calving heifers before the age of two not only results in more calves throughout the cow's lifetime but also shortens the generation gap, leading to quicker genetic improvements.

Smaller calves are less likely to experience birthing complications, reducing the need for assistance, and helping cows recover faster. This results in a tighter calving interval and more evenly spread calving in the following season.

Taking the time to input precise data regarding calving guarantees the accuracy and depth of the analytics and reports generated, enabling you to make strategic choices that optimize your herd's overall health and productivity.

To get the most out of Breedr, there are a few things to log when calving:

    1. Record births in the Breedr app, and document calving performance and birthing vigor for each birth.

    2. Enter calf weights in Chute Mode.

    3. Log medicines in the app.

    4. Track progress using the Calving Log Report and Birth Forecast Report.
